What caused Elisany’s height?

The answer lies in a condition called gigantism.
Gigantism occurs when a tumor forms in the pituitary gland—the gland that controls body growth. And that’s exactly what happened to Elisany from childhood.
At 11 years old, doctors already identified that her growth was much greater than expected. At 15, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor and prevent her height from continuing to grow uncontrollably.
The surgery was successful. Her height settled at 6 feet 9 inches.

That’s what happened to Elisany at school. The environment that should have been a safe place for her to grow ended up being a constant source of suffering. The impact was so great that she ended up dropping out of school.
And it didn’t stop there.
Using public transportation was nearly impossible. Simple daily tasks became obstacles. Her entire life seemed to have been built for someone who wasn’t her.
Finding clothes that fit? A constant struggle. Doorways became something she had to navigate carefully. Even something as simple as taking a photo with friends required adjustment.
But even with all that, Elisany didn’t give up.

What about her love life?

One of the most talked-about aspects of Elisany’s life is her relationship with Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho, her husband.
Francinaldo stands 5 feet 5 inches tall. In other words, a 16-inch difference between the two.
Does that attract attention? Of course it does.
But for Elisany, height was never a deciding factor. She fell in love with his personality, with the way he treats people, with the connection the two share.
